Blessington Tidy Towns committee member Paul Tyrrell, ran a very successful history talk on Blessington’s history and the surrounding area. Paul is currently the Chairperson of the Blessington History Society and is a fountain of knowledge on all things Blessington. Thanks also to Liam Kenny on a very interesting lecture on the aviation history of the local Blessington area. Recently, Muireann O Callaghan ran a fascinating talk on the ancient archeological past in Blessington and a recent archeological dig. More recently Alfie Zeller gave us a history of Lacken and specifically his own family history. The sixth session was with Paul Tyrrell and a chat on the lakes and past history. The seventh presentation was by John McEvoy discussing over 200 years of quarrying in Ballyknockan. Sit back with a cup of tea and enjoy a trip down memory lane, Blessington Tidy Towns is delighted to bring to life this history project for the community to enjoy….
