Biodiversity Projects

We have been working hard to bring several projects to fruition, including a large and ambitious composting plan. We also have been planting prolifically throughout Blessington, from our Polytunnel the engine room of our planting efforts. A key project too was the installation of our bee boxes in various locations. In the meantime sit back and relax with a cup of tea and watch the Live Bird Feeder Cam , it is amazing to watch nature in action and reminds us of the rich biodiverse world we are a part of.

Have a look at some of our composting work. We have run some composting courses recently too for the public and we also have several leaf composters and a large mulch composter. All the compost we use for our planting projects is now our own. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
We hope you enjoy this video from some of our planting projects. We are very conscious of the need for bee friendly plants and bear this in mind for all our work. We recently took on a project to plant over 1000 bulbs that will grow to bee friendly flowers next Summer.
A glimpse at our engine room the Polytunnel. The vast majority of our flowers come from our Polytunnel. We work year round here and a huge thanks to everyone especially Pieter, Anita and Mary for all the hard work here.

Our team of volunteers have been very active in arranging bird boxes in the town, we have hung up over 25 bird boxes over the last few months and are hoping for big results this nesting season, very big thanks to Paul B for donating these sustainably sourced bird boxes and we may develop this project further depending on success.
