May 2026 The Blessington Tidy Towns initiative has launched a creative and eco-friendly circular economy project by installing dedicated Return Bins for bottles and cans throughout the community. This “circular” approach allows residents to conveniently donate their empty containers, which the Tidy Towns volunteers then collect and process through the national deposit return scheme. Rather than letting these materials end up in general waste, the proceeds generated from the recycled containers are funneled directly back into the village’s aesthetic appeal; the funds are used to purchase vibrant flowers and greenery for local displays. It is a brilliant “green-for-green” strategy—turning literal litter into floral beauty—while fostering a stronger sense of environmental stewardship among Blessington’s neighbors.
